Wine Down Wednesday!!

It was “Wine Down Wednesday” at the Lake Elsinore Storm Game and Callaway was out there pouring our award winning wines.  Although the evening was very warm, the crowd didn’t mind as they were all wearing their favorite baseball team’s cap and t-shirt and ready to watch them play ball.  Kids were all running around with their mitts anticipating to catch a fowl ball coming their way.  Even some of our Callaway family came to relax and enjoy the game!  People were excited that they could taste wine but the biggest dilemma – what wine to pair with hot dogs and nachos?  The Sauvignon Blanc and the Cabernet Sauvignon were well received, but the Rose’ of Sangiovese was the winner for the evening.  A perfect “picnic” wine, which easily pairs with most food, even hot dogs!  Even those who prefer red wine were impressed with the fruit flavors and the dry finish.   It was very pleasant mingling with anyone that came to the table and had a Callaway memory or story to tell.  There were even some who remember when we first started in wine country and, of course, memories of Sweet Nancy.  Even those who were not familiar with our wines were very impressed.  Hopefully we’ll see them soon in our Tasting Room.  A couple said their wine of choice at their wedding reception was Callaway Chardonnay!  A girl came up and was so excited to tell me that she did the photo shoot at the wedding on Sunday.  Of course the most asked question of the evening – is there any connection with Callaway Winery & Callaway Golf?  The legend just lives on. . . .
